Fat Freezing Alternatives in Malaysia: Endolift vs Onda vs Mesolipolysis for Stubborn Fat and Loose Skin
Fat freezing, often known by the brand name CoolSculpting, is one of the most searched body treatments in Malaysia. It makes sense: most of us have a pocket of fat on the tummy, bra line or thighs that stays put no matter how much we diet or exercise.
At Dr Jane Clinic we do not offer fat freezing. Instead, we use three treatments that each solve a different version of the stubborn fat problem: Endolift, Onda Coolwaves and mesolipolysis. This guide explains how they compare, so you can understand which might suit your body before you book.
What fat freezing does, and where it falls short
Fat freezing cools a section of fat to a temperature that damages fat cells, which the body then clears over the following weeks. It can reduce a pinchable bulge, but it has two main limits. It does not tighten skin, so if the area is already loose, removing fat can leave it looking softer or more crepey. And in rare cases, the treated fat can grow larger instead of smaller, a side effect known as paradoxical adipose hyperplasia.
For many patients, especially after pregnancy or weight loss, the real concern is fat and loose skin together. That is where the alternatives below come in.
Option 1: Endolift for the body
Endolift uses an ultra-thin laser fibre, finer than a hair, placed just under the skin through tiny entry points under local anaesthetic. The laser energy melts small fat deposits and, at the same time, heats the deeper layers of the skin to stimulate collagen and tighten it.
Areas we treat with Endolift: the lower abdomen, bra fat and the thighs.
Best for: small to moderate stubborn pockets where the skin has also started to loosen, such as a post-pregnancy lower tummy or bra bulge.
What to expect: swelling and some bruising for several days. Many patients need only one session, and tightening continues to develop over the following 3 to 6 months as new collagen forms.
Option 2: Onda Coolwaves
Onda Coolwaves is a completely non-invasive treatment that uses targeted microwave energy to heat and break down fat cells, while also firming the tissue and improving cellulite. There are no needles or incisions.
Best for: larger areas such as the abdomen, flanks and thighs, and for patients who also want to improve cellulite.
What to expect: no downtime. Results build gradually over a course of sessions.
Option 3: Mesolipolysis
Mesolipolysis involves fat-dissolving injections placed directly into small, well-defined fat pockets.
Best for: small spots, such as a double chin or a small bulge that does not justify a larger treatment.
What to expect: swelling and tenderness for a few days, usually over a short series of sessions.
Which treatment suits which area?
Lower tummy with loose skin after pregnancy: Endolift
Bra fat: Endolift, or Onda if the area is larger
Inner or outer thighs: Endolift for small pockets with laxity, Onda for larger areas and cellulite
Whole abdomen and flanks: Onda Coolwaves
Double chin or a small isolated pocket: mesolipolysis
Body contouring is not weight loss
All of these treatments reshape specific areas. They are designed for people who are close to their goal weight but have areas that will not shift. If you have more weight to lose overall, a doctor-supervised plan such as Mounjaro weight loss is usually the better first step, with contouring afterwards to refine the result.
Frequently asked questions
Is Endolift painful?
The area is numbed with local anaesthetic, so most patients feel pressure and warmth rather than pain. Some tenderness afterwards is normal.
Are the results permanent?
Fat cells that are destroyed do not come back. However, the remaining fat cells can still grow if you gain weight, so a stable weight helps you keep your results.
Can I combine treatments?
Yes. Many patients use Endolift for a specific loose area and Onda for a larger region. Your doctor will plan the order and timing.
Find the right option for your body
The right choice depends on how much fat you have, how loose the skin is, and how much downtime you can take. At Dr Jane Clinic in Tropicana Avenue, Petaling Jaya, our doctors assess the area in person before recommending a plan. Book a consultation online or WhatsApp us to get started.
