A double chin doesn't only happen to people who are overweight. Genetics, age-related skin laxity, posture and jaw shape all play a part — which is why diet and exercise often don't shift it. The good news: there are now effective non-surgical double chin treatments in Malaysia. The key is choosing the one that matches the cause of your double chin.

First: Is It Fat, Loose Skin, or Both?

  • Mostly fat: a soft, pinchable pad under the chin, with reasonably firm skin — fat-reduction treatments work best.

  • Mostly loose skin: little fat, but a blurred jawline and sagging neck — skin tightening works best.

  • Both: the most common picture after 30 — usually treated with a combination.

Option 1: Mesolipolysis (Fat-Dissolving Injections)

Mesolipolysis uses small injections of a fat-dissolving solution directly into the under-chin fat. The treated fat cells break down and are cleared by the body over the following weeks. Most people need around 2–4 sessions spaced about 4 weeks apart. Expect swelling for a few days — plan it before a quiet weekend. Learn more on our mesolipolysis page.

Option 2: HIFU (Tightening + Mild Fat Reduction)

HIFU focuses ultrasound energy under the skin to tighten the deeper support layer and gently reduce small fat pockets. It suits mild double chins with early skin laxity, with no injections and little downtime. Results build over 2–3 months. See our HIFU page and our guide to doctor-led HIFU.

Option 3: Endolift (Fat + Loose Skin in One Session)

Endolift uses a hair-thin laser fibre placed under the skin to melt stubborn fat and tighten the skin at the same time. It's the strongest non-surgical option for a double chin with sagging jowls, and usually needs only one session, with results continuing to improve for several months. Read more on our Endolift page or in Endolift explained.

Quick Guide: Which Treatment Suits You?

  • Small fat pad, firm skin → Mesolipolysis

  • Mild fullness, early sagging, no needles wanted → HIFU

  • Stubborn fat plus loose skin, want one-off result → Endolift

  • Wide, square jaw making the face look heavy → add masseter Botox

  • Weak or short chin creating the illusion of a double chin → chin filler

Many patients combine these for a full V-shape face. See all options on our double chin treatments page.

An Honest Plan, Not a Package

Because there are several ways to treat a double chin, it's easy to be sold the wrong one. At Dr Jane Clinic, the doctor examines your chin and jawline in person, explains what's actually causing the fullness, and recommends only what will make a visible difference for you — which sometimes means fewer sessions or a simpler option than you expected. We take before photos, review your progress, and adjust the plan as your results develop. See real patient results in our before & after gallery and meet the doctor on our About Dr Jane page.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can a double chin be removed without surgery?

Yes. Mesolipolysis, HIFU and Endolift can all reduce a double chin without surgery; the best choice depends on whether the cause is fat, loose skin or both.

Are the results permanent?

Destroyed fat cells don't return, but remaining fat can grow with weight gain, and skin continues to age. A stable weight helps results last.

How much downtime is there?

HIFU has little to none; mesolipolysis and Endolift usually involve a few days of swelling.
