How Often Should I Get A Facial Treatment?

The rule of thumb is to get a facial once a month, or every three to four weeks. This is the ideal period because our skin cell turnover cycle is 28 days.

However, in the case that individuals have skin issues eg; acne, comedogenic or dehydrated skin, a more often and regular facial treatments will be necessary to improve skin condition and stop the aggravating concern.

What Can I Expect During Facial Treatment?

Cleansing

Foremost for any facial, has to be started off with cleansing your skin. This step is crucial to ensure that any dirt is cleaned away from your skin and prepares a clean canvas before proceeding to other steps.

Exfoliation

Exfoliation is a process of removing dead skin cells from the surface of your skin using a chemical, granular substance or exfoliation tool. You can read more about the types of home skin exfoliation here.

At Dr Jane Clinic, we use chemical exfoliator and/or microdermabrasion to remove the dead skin cells. Microdermabrasion is using a specific tool to gently remove dead skin cells to reveal your healthy, rejuvenated skin underneath. At Dr Jane Clinic, we provide both dry and wet microdermabrasion treatments. Both microdermabrasions are effective ways to remove dead skin cells.

Extractions

The extraction procedure is to unclog pores that are blocked by too much oil or dead skin cells. Manual hand labour is necessary to remove these congestions, but depending on the facial individual gets, a Hydrafacial MD® does not require manual hand extraction. Skin is cleaned using its Vortex-Fusion® technology. Read more about the patented facial treatment Hydrafacial MD® which is available at Dr Jane Clinic.

Massage

Massage that follows after a facial is usually the best part of the whole procedure. Some facial treatments include face and upper body massages. By doing this, your body's lymphatic drainage and blood circulation will improve.

Masks

A personalised facial mask at the end of the facial procedure is necessary to calm and soothe your skin. Who doesn’t like a good 15 minutes facial mask?
