Cellulite - The Dimples on Body and Thighs

Cellulite is a term for the formation of lumps and dimples in the skin. Common names for cellulite are orange-peel skin or cottage-cheese skin.

Cellulite occurs when the skin overlying certain areas of fat is pulled downward to the deeper tissues by connective tissue bands. This creates an uneven surface. Cellulite can affect both men and women, but it is more common in females.

Between 80 and 90 percent of women may experience cellulite at some point in their lives. Cellulite is commonly found on hips, thighs, abdomen, buttocks and breasts. Though cellulite legs are more common than other parts of body.

Cellulite severity is classified into 3 different grade.

How is cellulite treatment?

Onda is the new device from Deka that harnesses smart microwave technology for cellulite. It uses CoolwavesTM microwave energy to harness frequencies that target deeper layers while keeping the skin cool and comfortable. Onda handpieces generate microwaves at 2.45GHz, a frequency that is preferentially absorbed by fat molecules rather than by water molecules.

CoolwavesTM emitted from Onda handpieces effectively target the connective septa between the adipose globules to break down these lumps for a smoother skin.

Onda penetrates the epidermis and dermis layers of the skin to deliver more energy and heat directly to the targeted subcutaneous fat cells – the fat cells beneath the skin, due to its propriety technology that targets fat tissue. This in turn, helps reduce the heating of surface tissue and minimises the risk of damage to surrounding tissue.

The microwaves energy target the connective tissue to reduce the appearance of cellulite, while shrinking and stimulating collagen fibres in the treated area for a skin-tightening effect.
